A look at former Mets

Occasionally I like to take a look back on some former Mets from the previous season. Here it is:

Joe Smith, Cleveland Indians: Smith was traded to the Indians in the 3-way deal with the Seattle Mariners. Smith spent a good portion of the season on the DL, but was activated on June 9th. Smith has a season ERA of 5.87 with 8 K's.

Endy Chavez, Seattle Mariners: Endy, a fan favorite at Shea, was also in the 3-way deal with the Seattle Mariners. He's currently batting .266 with 2 HRs and an OBP of .657 in 50 games.

Aaron Heilman, Chicago Cubs: Heilman was sent to the Mariners in the 3-way deal with the Indians, only later to be sent to Chicago. Heilman, still a relief pitcher, has an ERA of 4.50 and has walked 17 batters, and is driving manager Lou Piniella crazy.

Oh Murph contest

The hysterical guys over at OhMurph.com are offering you a chance to win 2 Mets tickets to the Mets Vs. Cardinals game on Tuesday, August 4th.

You can enter here.

But here's the fun part.

You have to answer this:

Which SNY personality would you make out with to “get with” Julie Alexandria?

A) Kevin Burkhardt

B) Matt Yallof

C) Chris Carlin

I'll be entering, and so should you.

Starting Lineup: NYM @ PIT

Tonight's starting lineup for the New York Mets is as follows:

  1. Luis Castillo - 2B
  2. Fernando Martinez - RF
  3. Daniel Murphy - 1B
  4. Gary Sheffield - LF
  5. David Wright - 3B
  6. Jeremy Reed - CF
  7. Wilson Valdez - SS
  8. Brian Schneider - C
  9. Livan Hernandez – RHP
Carlos Beltran was expected to play, but was a late scratch around 6:00 pm.

Injury news

The injuries continue to mount.

Angel Pagan, who injured his right groin during yesterday's game, will be placed on the disabled list. You have to feel for Angel, because when he's given the chance to play, he's great.

Some good news though, Alex Cora will be activated tomorrow from the DL, and will take Pagan's spot on the roster. It's going to be good to have Cora back at shortstop.
